Alan Rogers Selected Sites in Europe - 52nd Edition
Publishers Information
The long standing campsite guide publisher Alan Rogers announces the publication of the 52nd Edition of the ‘Selected Sites in Europe’ guide.
Since 1968 Alan Rogers has produced its own series of annual guides to 'independently selected' campsites - covering over 30 countries across Europe.
They aim to provide you with a selection of the best campsites, rather than information on all – in short, a more selective, qualitative approach.
The 52nd Edition has detailed reviews on over 400 campsites, written by expert campsite assessors and is fully updated.
Over 340 different sites from the 51st edition
301 sites which haven't been in a guide since 2016
98 sites which haven't been in a guide since 2010
The attractive full page layout including contact details, GPS coordinates, site description, facilities lists & photos presented in a one-campsite-per-page view.
A scanable QR code for seamless access to the Alan Rogers website.
Includes all accommodation types from tent pitches to mobile homes, safari tents, chalets and on-site gîtes.
Full-colour layout, indexed by country, region and by nearest town, and colour maps.
Tourist information on featured countries and useful advice for travelling abroad.
The 492 page guide (‘Alan Rogers Selected Sites in Europe’) showcases many of Europe’s finest campsites. There are detailed, full page reviews on over 400 campsites in some of the most popular regions of Europe.
Featured countries include:
Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Croatia, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland
NEW for 2020:
Accessible travel information and environmental policies including local recycling schemes and low emission zones for each country.
The full page layout includes all contact details, full description, facilities lists and images, as well as a ‘Scan Me’ QR code for additional information online. This allows readers to find their ideal campsite and then plan and book their holiday in confidence.
The latest edition of this popular guide includes an eclectic mix of old favourites and new suggestions, from large fully equipped flagship sites to the more quirky, less high profile campsites in stunning locations.
Copies are available at www.alanrogers.com/guides with a cover price of £14.99 for the paperback or £11.99 for the digital version. Alternatively, they are stocked at Amazon and other outlets. All details at www.alanrogers.com
Our Review
For this year we try the digital edition of the Guide, many people may prefer guides that they can have on a smartphone, tablet or laptop, rather than carrying books with them. This saves space and weight and, in theory, makes accessing information quick and easy.
The Alan Rogers Selected Sites in Europe digital edition is available as an option only when ordering from the Alan Rogers website, it is not available as a Kindle version from Amazon. The Alan Rogers website is rather lacking in detail about the format of the digital edition, in fact we couldn't find any information about it at all. It's not until you have actually placed the order that you are informed it's an 82Mb download - so be careful if you are on a limited data mobile contract!
After downloading it is apparent that the digital edition is simply the paper version in PDF form. There are no advanced features such as a clickable index and contents, the campsite locations on the maps are not clickable, nor are website links. Rather disappointing.
In summary, Alan Rogers has produced, as usual, an excellent guide to their selected and inspected campsites in Europe. If you want a guide that you can thumb through at leisure then we recommend the paperback edition, if you need to save space and weight then go for the 'digital' edition - just don't expect it to be as easy to use as it could be.
